The topic of this article is the unavailability of clean drinking water on First Nations reserves in Canada because of funding problems by the government. This article argues that the legal discrimination causes the lack of water regulations in First Nations reserves which forces many residents to boil their water or depend on bottled water. The residents who live in First Nations reserves live under a different legal system which does not include water safety regulations. According to data from First Nations communities in Ontario, the Human Rights Watch states that the contaminants in their water include coliform, E. coli, Trihalomethane, and uranium. The lack of clean water also causes many health issues in First Nations communities is that may lead to overcrowding and community development issues. This article is biased because it focuses on how the First Nations reserve life is poorer than other Canadian citizens and the only source of information is from a report by the Human Rights Watch. This issue is important because First Nations are not given their human rights to water and sanitation according to the Human Rights Act, everyone has the human right to have their needs accommodated without discrimination. This issue affects the welfare of the First Nations Peoples every day of their lives.
